Citizens Count: Videos

The Citizens Count video series comprises four short informational videos. They highlight work undertaken for the project, bird-related environmental issues, everyday things people can do to be better environmental citizens, and how bird-counting is a useful form of citizen science that also makes the counters more aware of their environment.

The EnviroCitizen Project

Envirocitizen is a project that aims to research how to encourage environmental citizenship through engagement with citizen science. In this video, Finn Arne Jørgensen, professor of environmental history at the University of Stavanger, and project coordinator gives an overview of the EnviroCitizen project, what citizen science is, and how bird watching can foster environmental citizenship.

Art and Environmental Citizenship

The second video focuses on how technology and infrastructure can foster environmental citizenship. In this video we interview Kåre Aleksander Grundvåg, a Norwegian artist based in Tromsø who uses artistic interventions, like his Kittiwake Hotels, to foster social and environmental transformation of the bird-human relationship.

Making the Powering Platforms Videos

This third video is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Powering Platforms video series. Powering Platforms focuses on showing how technology connects people to birds.

Exhibitions for Environmental Citizenship

The final video in this series examines museums and exhibitions as places of knowledge production. It focuses on the idea that museums and ordinary citizens can co-produce this knowledge and foster environmental citizenship.
